How Much Coffee is Good for Heart?

There are several health benefits of coffee intake. But drinking too much can raise risks of heart disease. Morning coffee is essential for many people to start their day. Light to moderate coffee drinking has impressive health benefits in many people.

Researchers from the University of South Australia investigated the association of long term coffee consumption and cardiovascular disease. It was found the point at which excess caffeine can cause high blood pressure, a precursor to heart disease, According to W. H.O. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death, yet one of the most preventable.


Caffeine found in coffee raises blood pressure, which can be a reason for heart disease or stroke. On prolonged use, it may create a damaging effect on arteries restricting the flow of blood to heart and brain. However, the initial effect of caffeine is temporary and varies from person to person.

According to a study published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, an upper limit has been fixed for safe coffee drinking and cardiovascular health.

To maintain healthy blood pressure and a healthy heart- One must drink less than six cups of coffee per day. Drinking six or more cup of coffee per day can increase the risk of heart disease by up to around 22%, a study claims.

It is suggested that one must restrict coffee intake to less than six cups a day, to keep a healthy heart.
